THE TIME IS 5:52AM AND I JUST SAW THREE COYOTES LURKING VERY NEAR MY HOUSE!! I LIVE OUT NEAR PARADISE PARK ON PARADISE DRIVE AND NOW THAT IT IS SUMMER AND THE PARK IS BEING USED EVERYDAY PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE COYOTES WERE BRAZEN AS TWO OF THEM STOPPED AND JUST STOOD AND LOOKED AT ME WHILE THE THIRD JUST MOVED SLOWLY DOWN THE HILL. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN US WAS NOT MORE THAN 35FT.
WITH YOUR CHILDREN IN TOW AND THE FACT THAT CHILDREN PLAY OUTSIDE WITH JELLY AND JAM SANDWICHES OR OTHER FOOD ITEMS IN THEIR HANDS PLEASE USE MORE THAN CAUTION AS I HAD AN INCIDENT SEVERAL MONTHS AGO WHERE I WAS SITTING OUTSIDE AND A SINGLE COYOTEE CAME AROUND THE CORNER ON MY DECK AND WE LITERALLY MET FACE TO FACE. THE SHOCK AND SCARE BRACED ME AS IN THE COMPREHENSION OF A BEAR HOWEVER THE REALITY IS JUST THAT, REALITY.
I HAVE SINCE THAT TIME CLEARED ALL THE OUTSIDE FOOD AND WATER CONTAINERS FOR MY SERVICE DOG AND MY PET CAT. THE GARBAGE CANS ARE SECURE HOWEVER IT SEEMED THAT IT WAS THE OUTSIDE FOOD FOR MY SERVICE DOG AND PET CAT THAT DREW THEM IN ORIGINALLY. I HAVE FORMALLY MADE AN EVERYDAY LOOK TO ENSURE THAT THERE ARE NO KIBBLE BITS, CAT OR DOG AROUND MY HOUSE. I EVEN REMOVED THEIR OUTSIDE WATER BOWLS.
MY SERVICE DOG AND PET CAT HAVE NOW BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO STAYING INSIDE DURING THIS VERY DANGEROUS TIME WITH THE COYOTEE. ACCUSTOMED TO THEIR NEW CONFINEMENT I WORRIED OVER THEIR WELL-BEING HOWEVER BOTH MY SERVICE DOG AND PET CAT HAVE BEEN MORE RELAXED AS NOW THEIR WORRY FOR MY WELL-BEING IS SECURE. I AM 5'5'' AND WEIGH APPROXIMATELY 155LBS AND I HAD A COYOTE COME UP BEHIND ME AND SCRATCH MY LEG. I DIDN'T EVEN SEE HIM AS IT IS SO DARK OUT HERE AT NIGHT, AFTER REVIEWING THE SITUATION OF MY ENTRY WAY I HAVE INCREASED THE LIGHTING BY FLASHLIGHT HELD IN-HAND ANYTIME I GO OUT AFTER THE SUN GOES DOWN.
HOWEVER, ONCE AGAIN, I THOUGHT DURING THE DAY THAT THE COYOTE WOULD HOLD TO THE HABITS OF COYOTES AS COYOTES ARE NOCTURNAL BUT THESE HABITS SEEMED TO HAVE CHANGED AS WHILE I AM WATCHFUL AFTER THE SUN GOES DOWN I WILL HAVE TO NOW BE WATCHFUL IN FULL SUNLIGHT. AGAIN, I JUST WITNESSED THREE COYOTES AT 5AM IN TIBURON, CALIFORNIA, PLEASE BE WISE WITH YOUR CHILDREN AND THEIR STICKY FINGERS AND THEIR PROWESS TO DROP FOOD OUTSIDE WHILE PLAYING.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION AS THE CITY HAS REPORTED DALY CITY VIA THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN ADDITION GROWING-UP IN THE CITY RIGHT NEXT TO THE PRESIDIO WE HAD TO BE NOT ONLY CAREFUL BUT RESPECTFUL OF THEIR HABITAT WHICH WAS ALWAYS IN THE BACK OF OUR MINDS AS THAT BASIS FACT WOULD MAKE US NOT ONLY BE AWARE OF FOOD BUT ALSO WHERE WE CHOSE TO GO ON TRAILS IN THE PRESIDIO AND AT WHAT TIME OF DAY THAT WE CHOSE TO GO DOWN TO BAKER'S BEACH. I GREW-UP AT 22ND AND LAKE IN WEST CLAY PARK RIGHT NEXT TO LOBOS CREEK HOWEVER THE ARMY OWNED ALL THAT PROPERTY AND THE PROBLEMS WITH COYOTES REALLY NEVER STARTED UNTIL THE ABANDONED THE BASE.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) --
Daly City police are warning residents to be careful after several coyotes were spotted.A woman who lives on Southridge Way captured images from her window and sent them to police.
Rainy weather typically leads to an increase rodents, which are the main meal of coyotes.
Daly City police said these latest sightings have been in the Southern Hills neighborhood.
What to do if a coyote is within 50 feet and does not move away:
- Haze the animal to help it retain a fear of humans by being as big and loud as possible, shouting in a deep, loud and aggressive voice
- Wave your arms and throw small objects toward the coyote (to scare, not injure)
- Maintain eye contact, which makes the coyote uncomfortable and timid.
- If the coyote continues to approach, do not run or turn your back, but continue to exaggerate the gestures while backing away slowly and leaving the area

One additional mention is simply that my mother had a Farm in Montara, California where I trained to ride in the Eventing Equestrian World. I rode 'Roads&Tracks', Conditioned and also went on the occasional trail ride. Montara Mountain would be where one would think that the Coyote population would be vast, I never saw one. Possibly it was all the horse activity that drove them from our properties down there in the County of San Mateo. Maybe we should be more avid towards The Horse as a better choice to most of the choices that can commonly be made in the haste of fear and not logic.
